The article reports on the speech the author gave at the conference 'Teaching Science. Imagining the invisible'. Experiences and investigations into the animal world conducted in pre-schools are described, from which the children's way of participating and reasoning emerges children. It is evident that when s working with and about animals in pre-school, the teacher is a powerful model of how to approach them, what to look for and watch for, how to care for them.
