Abstract

The story of microscopic observations begun in the previous issue of the journal continues here. In a crescendo of discoveries, supported by the use of increasingly perfected tools, the microscopic study of cellular structure paves the way for modern cytology. Microscopic observation allows to settle
historical disputes concerning fertilization and embryonic development.
