Falconidae, Accipitridae, Catharidae

Abstract

This column usually presents only one zoological family group at a time, as an example of animal variety. In this case we present three – Falconidae, Accipitridae and Catharidae – commonly associated under the term “diurnal birds of prey”, an expression that in reality makes little sense from a taxonomic point of view. Here we propose a more correct approach to the classification of these birds.
