New observations on the vascular scenes with deformed youths by the Felton Painter

In this note, five scenes on vases from the Felton Painter’s
workshop in Taras are analyzed and it is hypothesized
that the deformed and cloaked figures in mythological,
Dionysian and erotic situations are a grotesque evocation
of young Spartans.
