The city wall is one of the most spectacular traces of the ancient Perusia. Considerable sections of it and many of the doors are still visible today; moreover, the Etruscan enceinte had a huge influence on the Medieval and Modern urban development. The Perusia’s wall, however, was restored many times and was involved in the principal political and war events of the city. It is therefore very hard proposing a univocal reconstructive hypothesis.
This paper examines specifically the southern door of the Etruscan city-wall, gathering and analysing from a different perspective both the previous studies and the most recent archaeological and historical data.
