Il percorso dell’acquedotto tardo-repubblicano di Mevania (Bevagna, PG): una nuova ipotesi di ricostruzione

Abstract

The existence of the late-Republican aqueduct of Bevagna
is documented by a tunnel for water collection, air shafts
and stone markers, and nevertheless its route is to date
almost unknown. Through the analysis of local orogra-
phy and hydrogeological framework, the paper re-elab-
orates previous hypothesis of reconstruction proposing
a re-reading of available archaeological, epigraphic and
antiquarian sources. Marking out a strip of land within
which we can potentially detect the course of the con-
duit, the study lays the foundation for the localization
of the castellum aquae, about which a new hypothesis is
proposed.
