Tempi e controtempi del trauma

Abstract

The paper provides an overview of the effects of trauma that injured subjects experience throughout different times of their lives, including the time of traumatic damage reparation. The concepts of repetition and secondary traumatization will be discussed together with what may affect the different professionals who deal with trauma victims, including vicarious traumatization. In particular, the many faces of dissociative phenomena, which are strictly related to traumatic damage, will be described with respect to their extension beyond the self of the victim. In this context, the major aim will be the recognition of dissociative states in different settings (clinical and not clinical). The paper will provide strategies to undo the dissociation, which is toxic for both the psyche and the body of the traumatized subjects and for those who encounter them. Some neurobiological aspects of dissociation will be also discussed.
Finally, the concept of wounded healer and its application to traumatized subjects will be also described and commented upon.
