General guidelines

To submit a proposal, you can use the journal's online platform. Authors must register to make their first submission to the journal, or if they are already registered, they can simply log in and begin the 5-step guided process. Alternatively, you can send an email to curaegiustizia@edizioniets.com. The email must be accompanied by: a .docx or .doc  file containing the anonymised article ready for peer review, abstract, title and at least three keywords in Italian and English; a separate .docx or .doc  file containing the author's details (name, surname, affiliation, email address). In the case of two or more authors, it is necessary to indicate the distribution of paragraphs.

Use Times New Roman, body 12 as the font.

Articles and essays should have a title, divided into numbered paragraphs (sub-paragraphs if necessary), with/without a table of contents. The author's name should appear immediately below the title, with a footnote (asterisk) indicating the title.

Footnotes and citations

Papers have a footnote apparatus (Times New Roman font, body 10). Footnote references (1 or 2 etc.) should be placed before any punctuation: e.g. "...as already mentioned1.", "in his paper2,". The cross-reference should only be placed after a punctuation mark if it is a question mark. "Is restorative justice a challenge for the future?3".

References

When citing literature, give the author's first name in full (e.g. M. Bouchard), followed by the title of the work in italics, the publisher, the year and the page.

If there are two authors, connect their names with an "and"; if there are more than two authors, connect their names with a comma.

In the case of collective works, give the name of the editor(s) as above, followed in brackets by "(edited by)".

Examples:

  1. Bouchard and F. Fiorentin, La giustizia riparativa, Giuffrè, Milano 2024, p. 123.
  2. Ceretti, G. Mannozzi, C. Mazzucato (eds.), La disciplina organica della giustizia riparativa, Giappichelli, Torino 2024, p. 123.

In the case of an article in a journal, give the name of the journal in italics, year, page or range of pages (omit in the case of non-pdf electronic publications).

Examples:

  1. Donini, Punire e non punire. Un pendolo storico divenuto sistema, in Riv. it. dir. proc. pen., 2023, pp. 1301 ss.
  2. Palazzo, Plaidoyer per la giustizia riparativa, in www.lalegislazionepenale.eu 2022.

Citation of legal sources

Use the abbreviations given below and cite the source, followed by the date dd./m/year and, after the comma, the number

Examples:

  1. 27 December 1956, n. 1423

d.lgs. 10 October 2022, n. 150

Citations of court orders

Use the abbreviations given at the bottom and cite the order, indicating the court authority, the date of the order, the number, the journal in which it is published, or the database. Do not give the names of the parties, the presiding officer, or the drafter. If simple sections, specify whether civ. or pen.

Examples:

  1. cost., 27 April 1994, n. 168

Cass., sez. un., 1° ottobre 2024, in Dir. pen. proc. 2024, p. 1438

Cass., sez. I, 28 agosto 2024, in Dir. pen. proc. 2024, p. 1442

Corte e.d.u., 9 aprile 2024, E.L. c. Lituania

Use of quotation marks

High double quotation marks ("..."): to emphasise a word in the text;

Low quotation marks ("..."): to quote other authors in the text. Within a quotation in low inverted commas, double or single inverted commas are used, depending on the style of the quotation.

Use of foreign words and expressions

Foreign words and Latin words are written in italics (if they are in an italicised passage, such as the title of a work, they are written in round brackets).

If the article is written in a language other than Italian (e.g. English or French), the conventions of that language are followed (e.g. "edited by" to indicate the editor(s) of a volume becomes "ed." if there is one editor, or "eds" if there are several editors, in English; or "sous la direction de" in French, etc.; place of publication: according to the form of the language in which it is written; etc.).   If, for example, the article is written in Italian, but the bibliography contains texts in French or English (which happens!), the author can  follow the conventions of the language in which the cited work is written, but the bibliography contains works in languages other than the one used by the author.
