Abstract

The paper aims to investigate a possible relationship between Deleuze and Lacan through the figure of Joyce and the concept of sinthome. In fact, through the sinthome, Lacan's theory of subjectivation encounters what Deleuze defines as counter-effectuation, as the possibility for the subject to reduce itself to its specific singularity, leaving the specular and symbolic logic of the Other’s field.

The sinthome in this sense represents the subject's possibility of inventing itself starting from a place of exceptionality, the place of its most intimate enjoyment.
