Abstract

For a few years Maria Cataldi, before joining as official the Ministry of Cultural Heritage, held the position of graduate technician at the Sapienza Institute of Etruscology, directed by Massimo Pallottino. In those years Mariolina represented Sapienza in the Italo-Nordic excavations of Ficana bringing students attending the Etruscology course to the field. Following the prospections carried out by the Lerici Foundation, she opened in 1977 an excavation that
brought to light one of the most interesting areas “for the diachronic stratification of a large number of building interventions and for the historical-topographical problems connected with some of these”. The relationship with the University continued after his assignment as archaeological official of Mibac, as co-supervisor for numerous degree and specialization theses, first on the materials of Ficana, then on those of the Collection of Tarquinia.
