Abstract

The lexicon focuses on the dialect spoken in Polia, a small village in central Calabria, an area of considerable importance for the linguistic history of the region, where Greek and Latin/Romance have been in contact for more than two millennia. The lexicon is based on the reorganisation and rationalisation of unpublished autograph materials by Vito Truglia (Polia, VV, 1910 – Rombiolo, VV, 2000), a priest and author of dialect poetry. These materials have been reviewed, supplemented, and expanded through extensive fieldwork carried out in Polia.
